What has a candle to lose?

 

So I decided to write about one of my earliest memories. You know one memory I can think as far back as without any help…. Well, here goes.

It was Aisha’s 3rd birthday party and we were done taking pictures which meant it was time for all the fun and games. So a box of plastic alphabets was emptied and the goal was to arrange them from A-Z. The celebrant was to go against Nafisa (May her soul rest in peace). So Aisha was almost halfway done when she saw her competition was stuck. She started feeding her the tiles and her mum said to her “Finish yours first then you help her”.

Fast forward some twenty something years later and a group of close friends were to describe her and the commonest of adjectives was selfless. She says, “I do believe that success is not success until it is shared, if not it would be really lonely up there’.

And because of her,  I do believe the words of James Heller.

A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.

So when you can, help anyone, any way you can. There is always room to help make someone better whether it be a word of encouragement, constructive criticism, a tip here and there or even a helping hand.
