UmmBilal Reads: Bismillah Little Leyla

Book Title: Bismillah little Leyla

Author: Qura Abid

Illustrator: Mona Ismail

Publisher: Prolance publishing
The book is pretty brilliant. It uses a cute story to bring the awareness of praising the Creator to the minds of children. It is a story of a little girl called Leyla who knows she should say Bismillah before she does anything – waking up, eating, drinking, and even playing.

It is engaging with repetitive rhyming words and its sentences are short and simple. The illustrations are beautiful, MashaAllah! It is about a girl but even the boys would readily accept it as the colours are not “girly”.
The overall lesson of the book is to say Bismillah before anything and everything. It is something we need to imbibe early in our children and even to remind ourselves as adults. After all, we do forget sometimes, right? Say Bismillah and Allah would always help you.
